Predator Free Apprenticeship Programme
The predator free programme has been set up to support those wanting to further their environmental career in the animal pest control industry. Apprentices complete the NZQA Certificate in Pest Operations (Level 3) whilst gaining experience out in the field. It gives apprentices the skills and knowledge to carry out pest control operations safely, under limited supervision, and in different environments for the purposes of biosecurity, conservation, and public health and enjoyment.
We work through the certificate with each apprentice out in the field and also through the theory component. They gain experience in ground control along with aerial applications. Along with this is an element of community work, where apprentices will help Predator Free Taupō with pest control and planting.
Through gaining this qualification, they will be able to carry out pest operations safely to contribute positively to biosecurity and public health and enjoyment. They communicate, report and record information to meet requirements in a pest operations workplace.
